The Federation is the peak representative body for co-operatives in New South Wales.

A co-operative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations, through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.

Resources: History of Co-ops

In 2006 the Federation assisted in the publication of a history book by Gary Lewis - The Democracy Principle: Farmer Co-operatives in Twentieth Century Australia.  This book, an excellent review of Australian history, is still for sale but is also now available online, free of charge. Please remember that the book is still subject to copyright and so it is requested that usage be fair and reasonable - and fully acknowledged with full citation of author, title and date of publication.
